ABConvert understands how important a payment method can impact a customer's purchase intent.

Therefore, we launched a Payment Customization test for you to experiment with the following operations:

  1. Rename payment method

  2. Hide payment method

  3. Reorder payment method

In this article, we will explain step by step how to start a payment customization test.

Step 1 - Create a payment customization test

Visit "Create New Test," select "Create Checkout Test," and then select the payment customization test. You will be navigated to the "Create Payment Customization Test" page.

Step 2 - Input settings

Like our other A/B tests, you can set your test name, description, and traffic split percentages.

Then, you can start customizing each variant. You can also choose to do nothing in a variant. In each variant, you can add one or more operations.

In each operation, each payment method will be checked to see if it meets the condition. If it does, then our app performs the operation according to your settings.

Here is a graph to explain the logic.

You can add multiple operations, and we will perform all of them and display the final state of the payment section.

In this article, we are going to set the variants as follows:

  1. Original: Hide "Cash On Delivery (COD)"

  2. Variant: Reorder "PayPal" to the 1st position

After everything is set, click "Next" to launch the test.

Step 3 - Preview the test

After the test is created, you can view it on our dashboard. Click the link to visit the "Analytics" page.

On the "Analytics" page, you can preview the test by clicking each preview link of the variant.

In the preview checkout, you can see the payment methods displayed differently according to the settings.

πŸ“ The payment name you use should be the name as it appears in the checkout, not the name displayed in your Shopify backend.

✏️ For express (accelerated) checkout, you can use the "Hide" operation to customize it.

Give your test some time to run, then you can analyze your results and make changes to your checkout.

Conclusion

In this article, we explain how to start a payment customization test to improve your conversion rate.
