How to create a Shopify Function (Cart Transform) price test by uploading a CSV file

Step 1: Start a new price test

  1. In your ABConvert dashboard, click Create new test

  2. Select Price test from the test types

Step 2: Upload your CSV file

  1. In the Select products step, click the Upload CSV button.

  2. A modal will appear with instructions and a link to a CSV template.

  3. Click the Download template link to get the correct format.

  4. Fill out the CSV file with your product handles, variant IDs, and the prices you want to test.

  5. Once your file is ready, upload it using the Add file button in the modal.

  6. Click Submit to confirm and complete the rest of test setup

What format should the CSV file be in?

The file must match the provided template, with columns for product handle, variant ID, and test prices.

Can I edit the price test after uploading the CSV?

Yes. After uploading, you can review and adjust test settings before launching.

What if my CSV has errors?

ABConvert will show you an error message if the file format or data is invalid. You can fix the file and upload again. If you are unable to upload the file, feel free to reach out to our support team.

How to use preview mode for my Shopify Function (Cart Transform) price test

Step 1: Prepare a duplicate of your live theme

Preview tests run in draft themes, not your live store.

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.

  2. Click Actions > Duplicate on your current live theme.

  3. Rename the duplicate to something like Price Test Preview for easy tracking.

Follow the standard steps to set up a price test in ABConvert.

When you reach the Final Review step, you’ll see a Preview button next to Create Test.

Step 3: Create a preview test

  1. Once you click on Preview, a modal will show up.

  2. In the modal, select one of your unpublished themes (choose the duplicate you just created).

  3. Click Create Preview to generate your preview test.

ABConvert will now prepare your preview version and redirect you to the preview analytics page.

Step 4: Explore your preview

Once your preview is ready:

  1. You’ll be taken to a Preview Analytics page.

  2. Click View Preview URLs to open a modal with preview links.

  3. Use these links to:

    • View the homepage for each test group

    • Toggle Individual Product Links to see product pages directly

    • Use the "Clipboard" icons to copy and share preview links with your team

Note: No analytics data is collected during preview mode.

In your preview, you’ll also see an ABConvert Preview Widget on the page. You can drag it around and:

  • Switch between test groups in the Test Group dropdown

  • Expand the Products section to access direct product page links

Step 5: Launch or save your test as a draft

Once everything looks correct:

  1. Return to your ABConvert Dashboard.

  2. Under Your Tests, click the three dots (⋮) next to your preview test.

  3. Choose one of the following options:

    • Launch: Publish the test live immediately on your store.

    • Convert to Draft: Save it for further editing before launch.

FAQ

Can customers see my preview test?

No. Preview mode only works in unpublished themes that aren’t visible to customers.

Will preview tests collect analytics data?

No. Preview tests are for visual and functional checks only.
