ABConvert's interactive modes walks you through test creation step-by-step with tooltips, hints, and visual guidance. The system is available in two modes:

- Guided mode — Create real tests with your actual products

- Tutorial mode — Explore with sample data risk-free

Both modes provide the same coaching experience with smart tooltips that lead you through the whole creation with instructions for each field. The only difference is whether you're working with real or mock data.

Guided mode

Guided mode helps you create real A/B tests with your actual store products while providing interactive coaching throughout the process.

What happens in guided mode

When you create a test in guided mode,

  • You work with your real products and store data.

  • The mode displays tooltips explaining each field, so you receive contextual hints to make the right choices

  • Your test configuration is saved and can be launched immediately

When to use guided mode

Use guided mode when you are ready to launch a real test right away and want coaching while working with your actual products.

How to access guided mode

For new users

After completing your onboarding survey, click "Create my first test →"

The system automatically navigate to create your recommended test type page with guided mode on.

For all users

In each test creation page, click the Guided tour button to switch to guided mode.

Please note that only ABConvert 2.0 tests support guided mode. For checkout test, PDP content test and for users haven't upgraded to unlock 2.0 features, the Guided tour button will not exist.

Tutorial mode

Tutorial mode lets you explore ABConvert's features using sample data without affecting your live store.

What happens in tutorial mode

When you use tutorial mode,

  • You work with pre-filled mock products and sample data.

  • The coach displays the same tooltips and guidance as guided mode, so you can experience the entire test creation flow. You can also preview mock analytics dashboards to explore.

  • Nothing is saved to your store or database.

When to use tutorial mode

Use tutorial mode when you are new to ABConvert and want to learn without risk and want to explore different test types before deciding.

FAQ

Can I use guided mode or tutorial mode multiple times?

Yes. Every time you click the "Guided tour" in test creation, you will start guided mode. It isn't limited to your first test.

Can I save progress in tutorial mode?

No. Tutorial mode never saves data. If you refresh the page or navigate away, all your tutorial progress is lost. This is intentional to keep tutorial sessions completely separate from real tests.

Why can't I access guided mode or tutorial mode?

Both modes only support ABConvert 2.0 test creation, so you might either be

  • Still using 1.0 pricing plan and have no access to ABConvert 2.0 features yet

  • using PDP content test or checkout test, which haven't supported 2.0 test creation yet

How long does a tutorial take?

Tutorial durations vary by test type:

  • Price test tutorial — 5 minutes

  • Shipping test tutorial — 4 minutes

  • URL redirect test tutorial — 3 minutes

  • Template test tutorial — 3 minutes

  • Theme test tutorial— 3 minutes

  • Visual editor test tutorial — 4 minutes

  • Analytics dashboard tutorial — 5 minutes

These are estimates. You can skip steps or exit at any time.
