Step 1 - Create New Test

To create a template, navigate to our "Create New Test" tab, and you will find a test called "Template test".

Click "Create Template Test" and you will be navigated to the create new template test page.

Step 2 - Set up your test

Give your template test a proper naming and decide the percentage of traffic splitting between your original template and test variant.

Step 3 - Select template

Select a template from your theme to create a test for. You can only select a published template so visitors can be included in the test.

You can select template for Homepage, Collection page, Product page and your custom pages.

When you first create the template test, our app will take some time fetching the template screenshot.

It's normal that it shows loading spinner when fetching the screenshot. After a few seconds, you will see the screenshot for the template.

Step 3 - Create a template variant

Once you decided which template you are testing, you can then create a variant to test against original variant.

You can either duplicate a template and edit in the Shopify editor or select from your existing template.

Once you finished editing your template, don't forget to view it in the browser to make sure you get your changes saved.

Step 4 - Launch test

Do a final review and launch the test.

Once the test is created, you will be navigated to your dashboard and you can find your test with "Active" status.

✏️ Please note that only templates chosen in your test will be tested. For example, if you choose collection-template-a and collection-template-b, only collections assigned to those templates will be affected by the test.

Step 5 - Preview test

There is two ways to preview test:

  • Use preview url in the analytics page

  • Use incognito browser and navigate to the page is built with the selected template with ?preview=0 or ?preview=1 in the url. You will be showing different variant.

To this point, we are all set. Give the test some time, and we can analyze the result in the analytics later.
